ADC completed a comprehensive strategic planning project for Make-It Springfield, a community-based makerspace located in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts.
Beginning as a 30-day pilot project in a vacant storefront, in just under two years Make-It Springfield has welcomed over 2,700 people of all ages attending 90 unique workshops.
With the support of a MassDevelopment Collaborative Workspace Planning Grant, the Make-It Springfield Strategic Planning Committee identified next steps, strategies, and opportunities to sustain Make-It Springfield and prepare for expanded programming and greater impact. The highly participatory planning effort engaged Springfield residents, artists, makers, city officials, arts, business and community organizations, UMass Amherst, and Springfield Technical Community College.
